Since we started leading "Chosen" last week, God is continuing to make clear to me that he desires a Holy Standard among his people. And what caught me when I read the verse above, is that whatever we surrender to... we worship. When we surrender to sin, in essence, we worship that sin, we give of ourselves unrestrained to that temptation, and we say use me for ignoble purposes.
However, when we flee from sin, we surrender ourselves to God, and say Lord, I believe that you have a greater purpose for my life, a life beyond mediocrity. I believe that you have called me for a divine purpose, a purpose greater than I can imagine.
Maybe the issue is that we think God cannot use us for his divine purpose.
Maybe something deep within us believes that God is withholding every good and perfect thing from us.
Maybe we don't believe that we are worth it.
And even maybe, we don't believe that God is loving and merciful because of our life's experience and hurt.
But I truly believe that "we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness and into the wonderful light." -1 Peter 2:9
Trust is essential to surrender, and we can't surrender to God unless we trust him.... but you can't trust him until you know him better. Perfect love casts out all fear... the more you realize how much God loves you, the easier surrender becomes.
If you're interested or wondering how this could be so, how you can know Him better, how you can surrender to God, and accept that he has called you, chosen you, and says you belong to Him, I urge you to come out to
